About my artwork: Some of the text-based work is sampled from source material, articles, novels and movies.
Others evolve organically from conversations. Language and our interest in communication
is the inspiration for the work. Often there is humor but also a minimal
approach to language in the attempt to get to the source of an idea or thought. By
removing the individual phrases from their context, their meaning can expand and contract
as the viewer collaborates in the making of the piece: they allow their own perceptions
to color the phrase, and take it down a path of their choosing.

At 1:50pm on 22nd July 2008, The Franks said…: Thanks Robert. We have a solo show opening Sept. 5 at Rowland Contemporary, "An Improbable Coincidence of Wants." We'll show a lot more sculptural work; some video and photography as well. The new stuff will be posted on our site within the next few weeks.
