I am...

I was born in Los Angeles California, but was raised in Kansas for 20 years. I received my BFA from the University of Kansas and moved out to San Francisco to fulfill my dreams and my ambitions as an artist.

About my artwork

I am a Counter Pop evolutionary artist who objects to Richard Hamilton's characteristics of Pop Art and Andy Warhol's philosophy & materialistic dependancy on art being popular, for the masses, expendable, a business, and its neediness to be a product. Andy's famous quote "I want everybody to think alike" & "I think everybody should be a machine", is very communistic to me.

I have always enjoyed the cartoon as fine art because of its potential to begin from one's imagination, the original self and to exist in both the modern and classical realms of art.

In my current work of the Masked Woman, I have been exploring the cartoon as the new figurative in 2 different ways:
1. First, I use the cartoon as a conceptual object that communicates feminine issues of modesty, freedom, power and innocence.
2. Secondly, the cartoon is a formal tool that discusses its connections to classical art.

I am interested in networking with curators of museums & galleries for the purposes of exhibiting and touring the Masked Woman series as a solo exhibition.
