About my artwork
sea of thoughts emotions memories time identity intensity vulnerability

constant motion (inner)landscapes frozen moments astonishment

I work on paper, with different materials. For me colour is a language. My series often start from a book, in which I paint, cut pieces or enlarge images to print and use in my works.

‘Like the figure of the ancient Greek god Atlas, Zazah G. Van den Broeck’s work is laden with the weight of the world. In our stead, she delves deeply into the most personal, most universal, sentiments and expresses them unconventionally, using pure pastel pigment and watercolours. Each work springs from an initial astonishment and awe at the feelings, memories and thoughts evoked by fearlessly posing the oft elusive-sounding but essential (and exclusively human) questions of Why are we here? and Where are we going? In Van den Broeck’s work colour becomes a medium bleeding from print to paper and blurring the inside-outside border between personal and public experience.’ (Part of the text/press release on the series Atlas 2007 by David Ulrichs, Berlin 2007) complete text: http://www.artnews.org//artist.php?i=3980

eMOTION - G.A.S - Station, Berlin

The fokus of the first project eMOTION is the juxtaposition of various medial and formal approaches out of the field of associations motion & emotion. From an abstract point of view, motion is the change of SOMETHING relativ to a system of reference. Works, that emphasize the aspect of motion with regard to the space-time axis. Motion is not perceptible without the factor of time and space. If you portray just a moment of a motion, you get a static impression of the acutal condition „IST… Continue

Hi Zazah,

Things are very good. I have just acquired a new Epson scanner so I am making scans of the slides from my Germany trip of April 2008. I have both analogue and digital images. Mostly I am teaching now but just wrote two new proposals. My students made lovely exhibit designs for a Luibov Popova project and I will teach a new project on green kitchen design this week. On Tuesday is the US election...

Best regards, Robert

Hi, Zazah!,
Thank you very much for your comment, when I paint I do it in a way almost irrational, I'm directed, as a vehicle for something, someone, I do not know.
A greeting.

Hi zazah, sorry for belated friends request. I am working on new work but haven't yet taken quality images yet. Lots of work in process .I am currently in collaboration with a Dutch artist creating works over her works on paper . I am also experimenting with glass and inclusions which will be incorporated into work on canvas. What about yourself??
