I am...
curator of la-condition-japonaise.
La-condition-japonaise is a curatorial project initiated by Shintaro Miyazaki (Media- and Soundtheorist) and Eri Kawamura (Curator, Art-Writer, Art Historian) in April 2007 and tries to explore as well as re-map the diversity of japanese contemporary cultures and arts (fine art, experimental music, performance art, dance etc.). The center of our activity is Berlin.
La-condition-japonaise is a neologism derived from the frech expression "la condition humaine" which means the state of mankind and is a philosophical expression. With this in mind "la-condition-japonaise" can be defined as the neverending search of the state of contemporary japanese arts. Therefore "la-condition-japonaise" is also permanently trying to negate or affirm existing prejudices about Japan and is seeking for a more accurate view on the diversity of contempoary japanese culture and society.
The main focus of the project is networking and building new possibilities of collaborative works and projects as exhibitions, concerts, festivals in Berlin with artists, musicians, performers, curators and whoever interested!
Artists I like
Ikeda Ryoji, Megumi Fukuda, Kubota Hironari, Haruko Maeda, Hirofumi Matsuzaki, Ishida Daisuke, Nam June Paik, Jorinde Voigt, John Bock, John Cage
