If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Painting
I am...
I'm a first year student at Middlesex University.
Latest project was to set up a blog and research on the topics such as media, artist, institution, publication and gallery.
"Art review" magazine is one of the best presently available art publication and guide lance.
About my artwork
Most of my work are paintings. But I would like to try some other medias such installation, photography.
Artists I like
It would be fair to say under influence of "Art review" magazine I became found of such artist as Daren Almond, John Currin, whose exhibition at South Audley Street I visited yesterday and many other from your list, big thank you.
Interests
Reading, mild participation in badminton, tennis, jogging, walkig.
What exhibitions are good at the moment?
"From Russia", Carnach, John Currin, Linda McCarthney.
I'm not an artist but a french IT guy, interested in art , and working on this website dedicated to art galleries and their exhibitions : http://artalog.net/index.php?lang=en
(currently limited to France, but I'll open it to UK galleries soon)
Hi Nadiya,
tnx for your comment at my work,
they are all in acrylic, most of the time it starts with a mood, pure feelings I want te express...because I believe it has to be possible to bring over human feelings in pure abstraction, but also little figurativ works, but that's only the basis for my paintings.
When I make other artworks it has to consist always on a conceptuel basis
most of the time themes like realitie, dualitie and politics are the main triggers in my work.
all the best
Hi Nadiya, i always do a fairly detailed full colour underpainting in acrylic, especially if the finished colour is translucent like red or blue, i try to get no surface texture to the end result so it doesnt detract from the image. Most of my ideas are usually based on urban sub culture, sometimes people/dogs that have passed my way, You where right with the humour aspect, it helps to balance the darker side of the subject, i try to avoid preaching in my paintings as i aint no social worker for societies problems, merely an onlooker.
All the best
Tony
Hi Nadiya, i love all exhibitions, group, solo open, its the ending of all the work you put in.I dont have any costs with the rebecca hossack gallery, as they take that out with commission from sales, all i did was send out e-mails with photos of my work attached, to all the galleries that i thought may have suited my style, try to find galleries that represent the sort of work you produce.I am represented by the gallery so i am tied as to where i can show my work.
Thanks for your interest and all the best at university,
Tony
Morning Tony'
I've looked at the website of The Rebecca Hossack Gallery and collaboration of works for "Spring Exhibition". I think Your works are a great mix of realities from Brits lifestyle and existence. Do you prefer to do group exhibition to solo one or it is a financial relief when you share the cost. I wish you a great success and good "£"return for your lovely artworks. I'm sorry if sound naive but I have never organise my privet exhibition or show except at the university. So how you manage finding galleries and places for the future show ? Nadiya.
