Book background. Since visual art dairies came the norm (many years ago now) in the higher school system here, I started adopting this process of recording ideas etc. However my diaries seemed to just get filled up with more 'writing' of spasmodic thoughts and ah ha! moments over the years rather than any imagery. Hence I gave myself the challenge to have one with no writing at all, to give my self permission to 'play' and that ended up being with thread (from my 'sense of attachment' - a previous curated group exhibition theme we had) and paint, in this lovely ragpaper book I had purchased (made in India). The rest is history....This paper I've since discovered is boiled up secondhand cotton fabric that the Indians make into various paper formats. That's why it is so strong as takes all the punishment I give it without disintegrating Lol!
I'm in a lull of doing very little work at present but one needs to rest and gaze a bit, before the next big wave (next April) comes in so to speak. (Its been a hectic two-three years since the devasting cat.5 cyclone hit our town 2006)
I can see your photographic images worked as beautiful B&W tonal (mono chromactic) oil paintings on a large scale. Would be just divine. Cheers for now Kerryn.
