- drawn to paint through my love for the wildness of the Beara Peninsula in West Cork, Ireland.
- About my artwork
- I paint landscapes with oil. I like to feel protected by the mountains that surround me from the cruel world outside. My stormy sea paintings come from rough ride I sometimes get in life. I was brought up here in Beara, I went out to sea fishing in the old fashion black tarred boats, I helped bring home the turf on carts drawn by horses, and I went to the creamery stand, clip clopping down the lanes. I felt safe back then and like to go back to that era in my paintings

I used to paint very carefully, trying to get things just so. Then I was told I was trying too hard. This bloke looked at one of my landscapes and told me that in reality this mountain was in fact higher than that one. Do you think i really gave a toss? Now my oils take me 30 minutes on average. I paint what I paint and if my work is enjoyed then that is great. I don't paint to please, i paint to get it out of my head and onto canvas.
