My canvases are big, (typically 4ft x 5ft), so it takes a while to cover the whole thing. Usually one day I'll cut in the figure(s), then the second day I'll do the background, then two or three days working in thick impasto on the figure(s). A week or two later I'll do finishing touches in glaze.
I thought you might want to join the Figurative Art group.

The ones that really work for me are, 'after the fall', 'impact','oil in my vessel', and 'potosencerity'.
