If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Drawing, Painting
I am...
I am currently studying for my Fine Art BA, and alongside this I am studying Japanese in my spare time.
I am trying to promote myself as an artist, and will hopefully have my work in the public in the near future.
About my artwork
My work encompasses aspects of dreams and the surreal. I am currently trying to create pieces which incorporate the aspects of dreams - colour, emotion, abstract images - whilst trying to keep it plauseable and realistic. I want my audience to see something, but not be totally sure of what is there and what is going on. I am trying to provoke thought and emotion, and really get the audience to look deep into painting.
Artists I like
My favorite artists include Peter Doig, Chinatsu Ban, Chiho Aoshima, Takashi Murakami, Aya Takano, Maria Lassnig, Yayoi Kusama, Yoshimoto Nara, Claude Monet, and many others.
Interests
I love drawing as well as painting, and photography is a hobby I undertake every now and again. I do portraits often as well, but I do not focus my time on this skill. I like to try working in the different areas of Art to give myself a wider perspective of what art there is out there.
I love Reading books by Japanese authors, such as Haruki Murakami. I am also very interested in Chinese and Japanese art and culture.
What exhibitions are good at the moment?
I am planning to visit the Liverpool Tate to see Gustav Klimt's work, but as of yet I have not been to any recent exhibitions in the last 3 months.
