I am...: Amy Mckenny, and I am working on a project space CoExist with Emma Emmerton.

About my artwork: Local artist collective CoExist launch a series of group shows - and other diverse projects - in a temporary gallery on the ground floor of Chalkwell Hall, in Chalkwell Park. Essex. The space which has been revamped and donated to them by Metal Culture will be open daily throughpout September and October only.

The shows will be in full swing when Metal Culture host the Village Green Festival, which is being held in Chalkwell Park on 27th September as part of the UK Cultural Olympiad celebrations.

CoExist was formed in 2008 by Amy McKenny and Emma Emmerton who felt the need existed for a wider range of local exhibition spaces. One of the aims of the Collective is to seek out unused, empty buildings and revitalise them as temporary gallery spaces, bringing art into the heart of the community and in turn saving the buildings themselves from the possibility of vandalism.

This series of shows is collectively entitled “Project Lulu” and aims to bring together emerging and established local artists in a diverse mix of styles and mediums. All the shows are free and will be changing on a weekly basis. Emma Bell and Joe Avery from Leigh-on-sea are MA students from University of East London who are currently showcasing work in the gallery. This show will run until 18th September, and marks the start of a series of seven projects planned, a full timetable of which can be found at on the CoExist website.

In october 2008 I show paintings on chairs and my new photographic work in Geneva (galerie Exarte) and in september 2009,I will show my chairs in Paris(Taylor foundation) to which you said you might come.
