If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Installation, Photography
I am...
‘Nothing is true, everything is permitted’
I’m an Italian artist based in Liverpool, Uk
I’m graduated from University of Lecce (Italy) with a thesis on the American writer William S. Burroughs entitled ‘The Writer of Silence’
I’m a self-taught artist and I work with photography and with installations.
In 1994 I started photography taking self-portraits of myself in the most unexpected places; industrial places, ruined churches, cemeteries, abandoned warehouses.
In 1997 I started the ‘FISX’ project with others artists. A group active on photography, installations, copy-art and visual poetry. The group produced different performances-installations using poems and photographs and drawings on photocopies, attaching them as collages on urban walls or galleries. The poetry became free from the medium of the book and open to an experimental dimension of fusion with other media like photography and graphic.
From 2000 I started to collaborate on the organisation of various artistic events. With other artists I founded the ‘Atelier Azur’. An open space where artists from all over the world exhibit their works freely.
In 2001 I had the artistic direction of the event ‘Posto Unico’. An experience of integrating visual art, music and theatre in the spaces of rural places, countryside and abandoned buildings. Spaces outside the contest of the mainstream galleries.
From 2001 I have curated with the Atelier Azur the ‘Weeks of exchange and artistic experience’ called ‘Casaterra/Homeland’ where an old rural house in the countryside of Puglia region (Italy), has become a laboratory of cultural collaborations with artists from eastern Europe to USA.
In the 2004 I collaborated with the theatrical company ‘Astragali’ (Lecce, Italy) as a photographer, video-operator and webdesigner in the realization of the show ‘Antigone’ performed in Italy, Cyprus and Greece.
I took part with the 'Indipendent' at the Liverpool Biennial in 2006, with an installation in a space curated by 'MuseumMan' (www.museumman.org)
My last exhibition was this year in Warsaw, Poland. A set of black and white photographs about theatre and architectures displayed on a big screen for the theatre festival 'Hajdpark' . (www.myspace.com/hajdpark)
I now live in England and I work as semi-professional photographer
