SEVGİ ÜRÜM

Sevgi Ürüm is born in Ankara on 19th.November 1953.
She graduated from the Graphic Art Branch,of the Drawing and Painting Department of Gazi University, in Ankara 1974. .She completed her licence degree at Anadolu University in
Eskişehir, in 1994. She worked in The Ministry of National Education,as a graphic and painting artist,as an art teacher in the high schools for 22 years.Within this period she worked at the Educational Center for Film-Radio and Television in Ankara,as a graphic artist(1976-1981).

She founded Painting and Drawing Studio in Aegean University and gave lectures on
drawing&painting for Aegean University's Students(1997-2001). While she worked officially, she continued to do artworks and activities.She had many solo and group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad since 1974.Her works are in many public and private collections in Turkey and many countries of the World.Her writings on arts are being published in art magazines and newspapers.

Sevgi Ürüm lives in Istanbul in Turkey.She continues artworks in her studio;
Taksim/Beyoğlu /Istanbul/Turkey
She is the member ofA.I.A.P.Unesco (International Association of Art), Association of Fine arts(GSB) She is the member of many international and national Art Web-Sites.

About my artwork

ON “EPHESUS PAINTINGS”
"Ephesus Paintings are the symbolic and visual resultants of the light and the magic which will be reflected to our contemporary life,coming out from the ancient periods. Many artists,were attracted with the various dimensions of this universe. From the lines of my view this is a starting point just like a passion that I can not give up in my paintings. This visuality comes upon different positions on my canvases;sliping off reasons-results,leaving behind rules,forms and limits,mixing with life and it draws a path for itself." 2006 ,Sevgi Ürüm

ON “TO THE COLORS FROM THE STONES”
"In her life to make painting is important as breathing. The sincerity and automathy in her works are the main factors describing her as a painter. The artist is not describing the body and aesthetic elements of antique architecture one by one, but blending in her own spiritual and actual pot for a clear plastique view and reestablishing.,which remained for today by resisting time. Works having volume at universal degree according to the antique models. She cause them to gain a different way of cosmic life. Turns them to a living, breathing, speaking free means. She testifies a common story living between today and the past, by headless figures' dramatic evidence',having no certain time and place.These are the imaginary facts of a dreamy reality given to us by the artist which can be tought as a different way of reflections to "that" time.
