If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?: Digital, Painting, Photography, Printmaking

About my artwork: My photography work presents metaphorical compositions including portraits, nudes as well as landscapes and abstract forms. I based my ideas on surrealistic principles. I am very interested in taking photos of the human body. I use it as a site for surrealist expression by experimenting with figural representation, distortion light and shadow. My compositions are looser and more gestural. Unlike conventional images, the use of unusual lighting emphasises dream-like scenes. The use of color, light and shadow is very important to me. These elements create a special mood and style of my photographs. I work with my photos in the Photoshop. The use of this programme seems inevitable in the postproduction of my surrealistic work. I use Photoshop to bring the images as close to the version in my mind as possible.

Open to all artists in all fine arts media we seek to recognize outstanding quality and diversity in the arts.

The 2009 IJC is open to all artists worldwide, age 18 and older. All works must be original. Entries in the following medias will be accepted: Painting, Drawing, Mixed media, Printmaking, Watercolor, Ceramics, Sculpture, and Photography.

Entry Deadline February 15th 2009.

A solo show next winter 2009 at Bluebird Art House and $1500 to the winner. 1 work in the show for each one of the 3 runner up.

You might be interested in joining a group I started: Stroboscopic photography. It's a small group, but perhaps we could start a bit of discussion in it and upload images other than mine to the group box.
