If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Drawing, Painting, Photography, Video
I am...
very small. I fit under your sink. And in it.
About my artwork
People are the most fun.
Artists I like
Caravaggio, Toulouse-Lautrec, Arthur Rackham, Alphons Mucha, Odilon Redon, Egon Shiele, J.C. Leyendecker, Edward Hopper, Buster Keaton, Edward Gorey, Al Hirschfeld, Chris Ware, David Firth, Erik Sanko, Gabe Leonard, Jonathon X. Coudrille... (there are many more, this list may expand endlessly...and yes, I realize they're all men)
Interests
Silent movies are good, I know this for a fact. The comedies anyway, I haven't dipped much into the drama. Buster Keaton is a god.
Film in general has got me fascinated. British comedy is better than American comedy. I have a few very long sketches memorized down to the vocal inflection of each word. I don't know why. Something to pull out at parties to send everyone running.
The best stand up comedian I have ever seen...is Dylan Moran.
I like antiquated things. I have a large collection of photographs from the late 1800s and a bunch of letters from World War I.
I'm equally drawn the dark, macabre world of Tim Burton type artists and the brightly hued yet disfunctional world of the Wes Andersons.
Anyone who says they don't like music is lying or from another planet. The Beatles, Animal Collective, Arcade Fire, The Bonzo Dog Band, Desmond Dekker, Patience and Prudence, Simon & Garfunkel, Air, The Bird and the Bee, Paolo Nutini, Beirut, George Formby, Led Zeppelin...(and on and on and on)
Late afternoon in a brick-clad city, the sun setting in a leafy alley. Quiet there, but sound in the distance. Relaxed, no fear. Walking slowly with a friend whom you might secretly be in love with...that is the thing.
I would love to have a toy piano. But first I must learn to play my ukulele.
I like men. They make excellent friends.
What exhibitions are good at the moment?
Daily observation is a good start. People watching. Everyone is putting on a show, and we're all amazing actors.
