About my artwork
The works of Anastasia Katsidis are inspired by objects of everyday use. Her interest lies in revealing complex cohesions in social systems, which show themselves in the simplicity of used objects. In the reproduction of existing objects, she tries to build them in a modified and abstract way. By doing this, she makes the collected objects recognizable and lets them initiate associations and dialogues between the personal memory of the spectator and her objects.
Besides her objects Anastasia Katsidis creates wall writings and poems which consist of manipulated everyday statements. By reducing and simplifying the statements she tries to reach a concetrated essence and to create surreal manifestations that are trying to reach the spectator in a direct but humorous way.
Artists I like
francis alys, panamarenko, yves netzhammer, katarina fritsch, maurizio cattelan, hubbard/birchler, gregor schneider, roman signer
Interests
unspectacular everyday details

I love that merry go round for two people, its a weird little intimate device. Where did you get it?

It dosen't move but it is meant to look like it. The thing weighs just over 500kg so the thought of making it actually move was a little intimidating.

Hey, great stuff. I think your work is really exciting. Are you a bit of a found object hoarder?
