I am...
a digital media artist living in New York City. I am Director of the Integrated Media Arts MFA Program and Associate Professor of Media at Hunter College.
About my artwork
I currently work in collaboration with scientists to develop systems for understanding storm and climate through sound (called sonification). Recent projects include: spatialized sonifications of detailed models of storms that devastated the New York area; a series of sonifications of climate in Central Park; and a real-time multi-channel sonification and visualization of weather in the Arctic. My current project is 90 degrees south, a sound, sonification and visual investigation into weather and climate in Antarctica. For more information see www.90degreessouth.org and www.andreapolli.com

The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious - the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science.
