I am...: a painter. I'm interested in language. I have a rhetorical sensibility and enjoy things that are bathetic.

About my artwork: Recently I've been trying to develop and manipulate motifs that signify something hysterical, voluptuous and banal. I've also been trying to steer the viewer away from the images in the paintings.
I've been trying some new things recently. I made a series of slogans for the Margate Rocks opening event in May; currently I'm developing a show for the Whitstable Biennale based on my brother and friend's ideas. It's called I Do Not Belong in a Sexual Society.

Muntean/Rosenblum, Aernout Mik, Ed Ruscha, Ryan Gander

What exhibitions are good at the moment?: Iza Genzken at Hauser and Wirth was pretty good. It's finished now though.

Open to all artists in all fine arts media we seek to recognize outstanding quality and diversity in the arts.

The 2009 IJC is open to all artists worldwide, age 18 and older. All works must be original. Entries in the following medias will be accepted: Painting, Drawing, Mixed media, Printmaking, Watercolor, Ceramics, Sculpture, and Photography.

Entry Deadline February 15th 2009.

A solo show next winter 2009 at Bluebird Art House and $1500 to the winner. 1 work in the show for each one of the 3 runner up.
