If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Digital, Painting, Video
I am...
I'm an east London based artist with skills in various artistic techniques, but my main interests and skills are in painting, digital and video editing. I currently work with a group of artist called 'The People Speak' who encourage various forms of free speach to the public in exciting and challenging ways.
About my artwork
My own practice revolves around working with the identity and manipulation of the human body/image using digital and painting techniques.
With my digital graphic work it is this altering or misplacing of a persons identity that is of interest to me, and through the changing of an environment and landscape the identity of an individual can be altered and transformed allowing the creation of haunting and alluring worlds in a scene of dreams and nightmares.
With my manipulated bodies artwork it is through digitally manipulating the body, usually my own, I create various ambiguous, hybrid bodies of perfect symmetry that are devoid of gender and age. They resemble genetic mistakes, deformities of science, a diabolical surgical procedure. By reworking these digital creations into paint form these hybrid beings take on another aspect; one perhaps less shocking and grotesque but more an intimate connection with the paint. The dried fluid of marks left on the canvas, surrounding and sometimes engulfing the body, are like the visceral remains of the rebirth of a new hybrid body.
Artists I like
Hans Belmer, Joel-Peter Witkin, Pierre Molinier, Hannah Hoch,
