Program: A year with Brody Neuenschwander; 3 years SSI associate scheme in lettering

I am...: Born in south London, and originally trained in calligraphy and lettering, I moved to west Wales to live and work in the mid 1990’s.

About my artwork: My relationship with lettering alongside an interest in literature and poetry, both my own writing and the influence of other writers, has brought a textual/literary dimension to the work – a poetic aesthetic.

I'm reluctant to label myself through the use of materials. Although I'm am very involved with the way that I make my work and the materials I use, for me the medium is ultimately dependent on context. The medium is important but not uppermost; I think of myself as a bit of a hybrid.

Following an award from the Arts Council of Wales in 2007, I toured a project called Inside the Birdhouse through Wales (www.insidethebirdhouse.co.uk).

Artists I like: Laura Ford, Nick Cave (soundsuits), Grayson Perry, David Jones (inscriptions), Nicholas Hlobo, Louise Bourgeois, Roger Cecil

What exhibitions are good at the moment?: 'Psycho Buildings' at the Hayward, London - especially Mike Nelson.

Cy Twombly, Tate Modern.

Hyperbolic Crochet at Hayward.
