I am...
Guildford Lane Gallery is located within a refurbished century-old furniture factory. The gallery embraces the history and character of its building. On the warehouse exterior, the Branchflower’s furniture makers sign remains clearly readable. Inside you will find various clues to the building’s history, including a number of historical pieces of machinery that refer to the laneway’s history.
About my artwork
Guildford Lane Gallery aims to develop an encouraging, experimental and dynamic environment for an arts community that values interaction, education and diversity. Through both our exhibition program and artist studio residency, Guildford Lane Gallery also encourages collaborations between Australian and international artists. Critical modes of artistic exchange, between all members of the creative community, artists, academics, collectors and critics, are also a priority.

Guildford Lane Gallery wishes to provide opportunities for artists to show work that may not always be shown in other venues (i.e. that which is not necessarily commercially viable).

Launching THE WEDNESDAY PROJECT

Taking its cue from the 'happenings' of the 1960s and 70s, the Wednesday Project is a dynamic and innovative creative forum which roams the spaces of Guildford Lane Gallery every Wednesday night. Fostering ideas of collaboration and interaction, The Wednesday Project exists as a series of free, artist-run or curated sessions, asking artists to push the boundaries of genre and medium and allow the audience to witness and interact with the process over a period of time. Nights can involve anything from insight or commentary into the artistic process, performance, soundscapes, workshops, critical talks or discussions, screenings and beyond.

Wednesday, November 26 2008 marks the first ever Wednesday Project free artist performances. Curated by Brisbane media artist Tom Hall, INTWINED spans three Wednesday in a row and features a huge line-up of visual, media, sound and performance artists such as Robin Fox (Yokohama Triennale, Melbourne Festival and Sounds Outback festival in WA.), Bonnie Mercer of the Grey Daturas and Tom Hall himself (Nasic Square Gallery, Open Frame Festival, Otherfilm Festival, Perth International Arts Festival) amongst many others. Extreme adventurers who combine themes of improvisation, experimentation, collaboration, science, contemporary theatre and other visceral elements drawn from everyday music, life, culture and art, these artist place an importance on new discoveries and will challenge you to see, hear and exist within art in an entirely different way.

The November 26 Wednesday Project opening also opens the 2nd floor warehouse space of Guildford Lane Gallery as a dedicated performance venue. This entire warehouse floor-space is dedicated to ongoing performance and interactive art projects such as the Wednesday Project.

Come and see it transformed for this inaugural opening artist project at Guildford Lane Gallery on November 26, December 3 and December 10.

Doors open 6.30pm, performance @ 7pm.

Good luck with your grand opening!
Being on the board of an organisation building a new gallery and studios complex here in Nottingham, England, I can appreciate all the hard work you must be doing - maybe the worst is over, and the fun about to begin!?!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you - I hope your dreams come true - your space looks great!
