I didn't get to see "Man on wire" - too busy finishing work off before zipping up to Edinburgh (that was tricky - ours was the first train to try to get through the floods - very picturesque though) but I did get to see lots of art in the Festival.
The Janet Cardiff/George Bures Miller show at the Fruitmarket Gallery is the best thing I've seen for months - if you get to Edinburgh for the Festival you've got to see it - absolutely marvelous!!!
I'm not alone - everybody loved it - even the Observer.
Now I'm back home, I find I've two art fairs to work for rather than just one - the London and Manchester Urbis - that should keep me busy!
Hopefully I'll get to see that film later. And thanks again for the recommendation - this is one back!
Hello Karen.
I was also a great fan of Modern Painters especially at the beginningI think it was Peter Fuller who started it? Then when yu went and the mag went to the states it just did nothing for me. I havn't bought it for a long time now.
We have a new mag in Australia called Art World (awful name ) but I think it is giving Art Review a run for it's money. Would love to see some of your writing in it!
Would be interested in your thoughts re Art World.

Yep - 'Man on Wire' is on with an intro at the Broadway Media Centre tonight - the trailer looks promising. I don't know if it's in Paul Smiths room though.
I'll try and get there, but I'm finishing stuff off before going up to the Edinburgh Festival tomorrow - and Mike Hinc's show!
Thanks for the recommendation.
Oh, and by the way - thanks for all your work on Modern Painters: I still have all my back copies to occasionally browse through in the studio. I was always keen to see your galleries round-up section towards the back.
I must admit I haven't kept with it's more recent changes - even though I'm an art-mag junkie - I'm afraid MP doesn't really do it for me these days. Still, everything changes.
Hello Karen,
Thanks for getting back to me. I've just had a quick look at the Phillips sight - interesting: I've bookmarked it to return to. Why not put a link here?
I liked the Petit quote you used: "I'm not honourable and courageous in my way of seeing life - I just cannot help it." Yes, definitely an artist!
And I think I'll have to pop down to see that Twombly show - it looks gorgeous!
Cheers, Mik
