If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Drawing, Painting
I am...
A fine art graduate, specializing in painting; printmaking and drawing, with a particular interest in landscape painting. I am a hardworking individual with enthusiasm towards working within a creative field. A creative thinker I have also gained knowledge of various artists through this research. Working within a studio environment using concept ideas, 2D and sketching. Specialist workshop experiences include: wood workshop (Canvas frame making) printmaking – (Monoprinting, collagraph, and etching).
About my artwork
I enjoy working in oils, with emphasis to light and tone through mark making. My work is spontaneous and energetic, methods include using a fluid wet surface of oils as a ground, then working into the ground directly, achieving a variety of marks and tones.
Influences include renowned painters such as Peter Doig and Anselm Kiefer. I am consistently interested in major exhibitions and shows with a fair knowledge of Contemporary art.
During my studies, I participated in a group ‘Postcard’ exhibition, held at a local arts centre, ‘The Farnham Maltings’. Duties included supervision of the gallery space, advising on artworks and helping with advertising and sales.
Within my professional practice works will be exhibited in the degree show (Barcode) held at UCCA, (Farnham Campus). Preparing for the show has increased my awareness of business skills needed to exhibit professionally. This exhibition was a huge success. There was an award ceremony, which took place the night of my private view. I was short listed for artist in residence from the Watts Gallery in Guildford. I one the Windsor and Newton painting prize. This painting prize compromised of £500 vouchers of art materials. Following the ‘Barcode’ exhibition works shall be exhibited at the Truman gallery, London. The show ‘Outline’ is a group organised exhibition, responsibilities will include ‘Gallery assistant’, overseeing general enquiries and sales.
Since the award ceremony I have had an interview for artists in residence in the Watts Gallery. Although I wasn’t selected for the artist in residence position another candidate had a teaching qualification. The interview was a great experience because I was able to discuss my interests in an ‘artistic’ environment. The ‘Outline’ has given me experience and confidence with talking to members of the public about my work. ‘Outline’ has been a perfect opportunity to exhibit my work so that its out in the open and more people were able to communicate with me about who my influences were before I began to paint.
I have recently been on a stone carving course in Weymouth. This was a 5 day course. During that time I used a large block of stone as a base for carving my hands onto it. I was please to complete something so big in a short space of time.
Artists I like
Peter Doig, Anselm Kiefer, J.M.W Turner, John Virtue and Paul Nash.
Interests
I like reading, going to the gym, drawing, painting, seeing new exhibitions in London and I would like to sell my paintings so I hope I can soon.
What exhibitions are good at the moment?
The Summer exhibition at the Royal academy and the paintings by Hammershio also at the Royal academy.

Thanks for your well considered comments which were gratifying and I'm flattered by the idea that I ''brought a story into photography''. I like your work especially ''People at random''. You have a real feel for landscape - but I wish I could see more and I wish you'd make better use of titles to particularize your images. They provide a way into the work and a point of contact for dumb viewers like me.
