- Currently, I am fascinated with the idea that derivations of the “journey” story permeate the mythology and storytelling of most cultures, spanning as far back to its origins with the Odyssey, or possibly to our nomadic roots. In today’s culture, the journey story has manifested itself in the Road Movie. I am interested in road stories that are a metaphor for finding a space to think, plots perpetuated by the internal conflicts of its characters. I am interested in the process of travel, and it’s unique experience of time and movement that gives way to a unique form of thought. I am on an expedition to explore the frontier of the cerebral landscape, the location where the self resides. I am interested in the imagery of introspection. I think of the mind as a setting, a location with its own visual logic. I strive for the inarticulate imagery of the internal, of memory and nostalgia – partiality, softness and blurring, the intensity of pure light and color. I am looking to create immersive environments with video in a gallery setting, allowing the viewer to find the state of mind where one can develop a means of introspection and creativity akin to that found on the road.
