If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Drawing, Painting
I am...
a painter, a teacher, a dreamer, a hopeless romantic, a work in progress ....
About my artwork
My work is most influenced by architecture, urban environments, and horizons. I have begun to accept that I am a formalist.
Tomorrow could be very different, and I am open to possibilities for change and growth within the images I create.
Artists I like
at this moment: Eva Hesse, Agnes Martin, Cecily Brown, Elizabeth Peyton, Zaha Hadid, de Kooning, Jasper Johns, J.M. Turner
Interests
besides art .... spending time with friends, traveling to the mountains for a hike, visiting New York to eat good food, finding new music, sleeping in whenever possible ....
What exhibitions are good at the moment?
Courbet at the Met. A lot of work in New York (Whitney Biennial for instance) is disappointing at the moment. I am currently looking to the past to hopefully project something more informed into the future. Artists need to excel more at skill and craftsmanship. Ideas are not enough anymore.
