I am...
Los Angeles based artist and activist.
About my artwork
The goal of my paintings of the world’s great leaders, whose courage and sacrifice changed the world, is to inspire altruism. Part of the proceeds from the sale of my paintings are designated for charity and other projects designed for social benefit. Prior to painting the portraits of non-violent revolutionaries and Nobel Peace Prize winners, I studied their lives and discovered that almost anyone is capable of rising to the challenge of a cause or to right an injustice. One selfless act creates a domino effect. An example is Gandhi's hunger strike that ended India's civil war. Rosa Park’s legendary refusal to give up her seat on the bus ignited the civil rights movement. At the heart of my work is the belief that one person can make a difference.

My portraits of these heroes will honor their memory and perpetuate the ideals they inspired. Painting is my way to integrate art and activism and express my hopes for a more tolerant society where all people can realize their potential.
Artists I like
Maurizio Cattelan, David Shrigley, Francis Alys, Judy Baca, Yoko Ono, Ed Ruscha, Paul Chan, Charles Ray, Miltos Manetas, Lauren Bon, Vito Acconci, Duchamp, my friends.

Wonderful portraits and I too love the Statue of Liberty proposal. While working on a film last year about immigration I spent time at the border and witnessed the arrest of 6 immigrants who were "hidden" in the bed of a pickup truck by a thin tarp. The truck was stolen but the caucasian driver was released. He probably pocketed a couple of thousand dollars from his exploited passengers. Buena suerte.
