I am...: I am currently studying Fine Art at the Durban University of Technology. I’m in my third year at the moment I love learning new things and change. I am majoring in Printmaking and Ceramics. I’m a weird, fun, outgoing, bubblely person but can be shy at times. I love Art and interacting with people, people that are creative and in to art, I am always willing to learn from others.

About my artwork: At the moment I am slowly developing my concept. My work is about femininity, feminine identity, the male gaze, and child sexual abuse and how it affects one when you develop into a woman linking to the the feeling of being tainted and how one feels about their sexuality. I’m looking at stereotypical feminine beauty, how women have been portrayed throughout history and looking at the present and how the media has control over how most of us look and feel on the outside.

Artists I like: Cindy Sherman, Tori Amos, Frida Kahlo, Victoria Van Dyke, Caroline Folkenroth, Jennifer Linton, Leora Farber, Rachel Stone, Andy Warhol, Yinka Shonibare, etc...

Interests: Art of coarse, Music, Gothic, keeping fit by doing Taibo, running and swimming. Going out to clubs and events with friends, watching movies. Just having fun.

What exhibitions are good at the moment?: The exhibitions that I am currently exposed to are the Bank gallery, KZNSA art gallery, ArtSpace, DUT art gallery, Durban art gallery etc…

Open to all artists in all fine arts media we seek to recognize outstanding quality and diversity in the arts.

The 2009 IJC is open to all artists worldwide, age 18 and older. All works must be original. Entries in the following medias will be accepted: Painting, Drawing, Mixed media, Printmaking, Watercolor, Ceramics, Sculpture, and Photography.

Entry Deadline February 15th 2009.

A solo show next winter 2009 at Bluebird Art House and $1500 to the winner. 1 work in the show for each one of the 3 runner up.
