About my artwork: My work integrates various means of communication and artistic production using virtual spaces, physical environments, and new technologies to establish connections between human (inter)actions, social networks, and technological adaptability. Based on notions of geographies, identity, gender roles, image appropriation, and the politics of migration, I explore contemporary issues affecting diverse communities in New York City.

parallel grounds is an Interactive New Media Art installation explores the relationship, transformations, and adaptations of the natural habitat and man-made environments in the state of New Jersey. Based on geographical data analysis, studies of land use, research on land cover & development, and trough the integration of digital video and commercial barcode label technology, the project allows visitors to experience various interpolations of urban / industrial, rural / suburban, and residential / commercial terrains.

IDOLatries explores the representation of feminine images used on the labels and/or logos of many canned and packaged Hispanic food products. The illustrations or representations of the female archetypes: "mother," "vamp," "saint," or "virgin" on every bottle, canned or package have been paired with a products' corresponding commercial barcode label and a visual cinematic narrative which is decoded by the viewer's direct interaction as she/he scans the product with a commercial barcode scanner. Now on view through 04-30-08 @ MediaNoche, NYC, USA.
