Hi Renee.
Thank you for you comment.
.
Welcome to artreview.com.
It would be great to see some of your work here.
Hope you enjoy the site. Also, check out ArtReview:Digital -- it's ArtReview magazine on your screen every month, and it's FREE
My partner, Brian Walker and I worked for the Chicago Tribune in direct mail and print, and Brian also worked in broadcast advertising for a number of years. We're both very experienced marketers and Brian is also an artist, and that's why we're passionately determined to help artists sell their work online.
I viewed your paintings and really enjoyed browsing your galleries ... I'm especially fond of beautifully brushed abstracts, so I'm an easy sell! Your colors (creams, reds, greens, blues!) are wonderful and I love seeing the brushstrokes. I also love the themes ... abstract paintings inspired by music and music expressed through visual art (I can see the music!).
To answer your questions about our website ... your paintings are the right "type" of artwork for our target audience, so we'll be marketing apropriately for your "product". The price points are reasonable for originals (I can see that you're a very experienced artist who sells !). I do believe, however, that offering giclees and prints is the key to success in online sales. Our research tells us that most artwork that sells online is priced at around $400. In fact, we've observed that high volume, top selling online artists typically price their work between $350 and $1200, so if you sell prints in that price range, you definitely should give it a try (we only charge $59 to $99 per year, so it's not a huge investment).
However ... you can link from DiscoveredArtists.com to your website, so it may be worth it to you just for the link to your site. You can use the online gallery to attract buyers who will buy from you again. We certainly want buyers to purchase through DiscoveredArtists.com, but we won't get in the way of Artists working directly with their customers. Successful sales for our artists is our primary objective.
So ... sorry for the long-winded reply, but there's much to say! I saw your e-mail address on your website. Please let me know if you'd like me to send more information. We also write and distribute press releases for our artists and I could send you a couple of examples of how we promote.
Thanks again for your interest ... and for inviting me to see your work. And, yes! Chicago is a great art-city. We live downtown in the loop with a wonderful view of the Sears Tower (sort of a work-of-art in itself!) . Just need to keep the windows clean to enjoy it !
Take care !
Renee
