About my artwork
In 2005, I was the first person in the US to graduate with a MFA in sound art.

Daily rituals, routines and my personal observations of the pervasive effects of audio-visual synchronization on everyday life inspire my sound installations. The technological mediation of experience, and concept that philosopher Paul Virilio describes as the 'sonorization of everything.' My minimalist approach begins with the employment of the most rudimentary materials for sound replication, raw speaker cones and audio wires, which become sculptural components for each work. The materials reference the entry into a world of replicated realities. My work begins with the sonic form itself, which triggers a physical form in my mind. Primarily site-specific works, with deliberate use of the floors and ceilings are then implemented. These sound molecules are essentially thousands of feet of audio wire and speakers cones which create "three-dimensional drawings" within mid-air. These works free the mechanics of sound from its representative qualities into another space, which draws the observer into a new mode of audio/visual perception.
