I am...: The North of England's largest single floor commercial Art Gallery, housing five galleries and hosting exhibitions from over 70 artists each month in a revolving show.

About my artwork: We show work from all disciplines by artists at every stage in their career, from amateur to professional.

Interests: THE ART WORKS GALLERIES provides a unique blend of in- house curating coupled with artist autonomy ensuring all our exhibitions are inspired, relevant and constantly changing. We are also committed to providing a platform for emerging artists to display their work, develop their audiences and be part of a vibrant artist community. We provide the only opportunity in the UK for artists of all backgrounds to rent space in a major commercial gallery.

open call for submissions: 'Surreal September'

The Art Works Galleries in Newcastle Upon Tyne invite you to submit work to our Mini Exhibition 'Surreal September'. For one month only we are dedicating space within the EYE TO EYE GALLERY to showcase your interpretation of the theme SURREAL SEPTEMBER...

From Bizarre dreamlike scapes to works featuring an element of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions, and hidden unconsciousness. We are curating an exhibition showcasing the surreal. So liberate your imagination!

It costs just £10 to get your work exhibited to the public and a lower than average 35% commission applies to sales from the SURREAL SEPTEMBER MINI EXHIBITION. Work of any size, medium and style is welcome - all it needs to do is demonstrate an affinity to the theme, all submissions need to be in by Monday the 25th August.

Submission Cost: £10 per piece

Commission: 35% on any work sold

Exhibition Dates: 04.09.08 - 30.09.08

Hanging Date: 02.09.08

F1rst Thursday: 04.09.08
