Where Thy Dark Eye Glances
'I Saw Three Ships'
21 Nov - 21 Dec 2008
WW Gallery
30 Queensdown Rd.
London E5 8NN
Based on Angela Carter's short story,
Ghost Ships, WW describe their Christmas show as a 'dark and opulent extra sensory feast; large as life and twice as unnatural'. Does it deliver? It most certainly does.
With video, installation, sculpture, performance, painting and print this show manages to encapsulate all that is dark Christmas. Forget about preconceptions of what traditional Christmas is all about and allow your imagination to wander through this winter wonderland and its delightfully dark surprises.
An essay to accompany the show written by Sophie Dodds adds insight into both the
Ghost Ships story and its interpretation by the artists. On this occasion I am holding back from describing in more detail how well this show is put together and the high quality art on display as it needs to be seen and felt and the atmosphere absorbed.
Quite simply, this is a must see. On til 21 Dec. For more information visit the website
