What do you think of the new look of artreview.com

I don't know about the new look to the website. The top menu takes up to much space. Before this website looked nice, like an art magazine. Now it looks like a collection of generic icons grabbed from templates. The grey fade in the background is boring. This now kind of looks like every other website out there. I like the minimal retro look of the original site design

Dare I say it, Sean - ''life imitates art'' - is this not some grand ether-eal ''Deconstruction''???
Knowingly or not, with or without malice aforethought, Artreview.com have deconstructed our dreams.

It's amazing how we pour our souls into these web pages - whilst I'm willing to believe the site will turn out right in a few days - at the moment it feels like a burglary, a rape, a violation and a disillusionment all rolled into one.

Perhaps we can learn something from this experience?

Lots of things aren't working. I hope they are aware of the faults and working on them. (+I hope they are telling off their team for airing such a disfunctional version.) Meanwhile I'm still hoping for the best, I too was quite happy with it all before.

Today when I try and follow the friend request link in my mail, it's not working. I'm not seeing the request on artreview.com and I can't find the profile of the person. Odd, as this was working yesterday - why not today?

I still don't have my artwork on my profile.

I cannot make the change in appearance happen on my profile. It'll change the header background into a photo, but none of the themes appear on my site. Or it seems to only be working in headers, not in the text? (I'm in Firefox on a mac.)

I hate the new applications - it's degrading to be offered the stuff Facebook didn't want - but actually I don't seem able to find them this morning. Have they been removed? If so, well - thank you! Hopefully I can remove my angry blog by the end of this week :)

Yes - I've noticed that. Things are fixed, a function appears and then it disappears again. And I think it's good that we say what is not working so they know what to fix. But if you backtrack here you'll see that they are working on it. Nick Tong has been forthright about the problems and so far there is nothing he hasn't promised that I can think I might want. Can you?

What I don't understand is...who said we needed a change in the first place? Am I alone in not seeing any advantage in Instant Messaging when talking to people all over the world?

Wow, what a mess.

Is it helpful, Nick Tong, as the venerable Mike Hinc suggests, for members to enumerate the glitches we encounter? Perhaps, to reduce redundancy, you could post a list of known issues.

I'll be patient, and check back in a few days. For now, I'll side with those who consider the 'upgrade' unnecessary.

Good luck to all.

Good point Marty.

But if Venerable= old - then thanks for reminding me! One good thing about the new site is that it's both less ageist and less sexist - in that I'm not obliged to flaunt my age and sex before the universe.

Ha!

upgrade shmupgrade!
i prefer the old format/layout, it was easier on the eye.
i tend to agree with sean that if it aint broke, don't fix it.

we don't need no re-education.
just the writing on the wall.
lets keep it simple.
its like changing your knickers unneccessarily.
turn 'em inside out first before you change them properly
doh!

It is possible that with time, the damage is eliminated, but miss the previous format, I feel moved to the site. Will be the fault of the "imaginary friends"', Mike?.

Ha! ha! ha!

Patricia, you'll note that MY Imaginary Friends are black and red and have nothing to do with this repugnantly white site. They are screaming for colour! Can't you hear them?

My THEME Edit still isn't working. It's there, I can see it and make all the changes but it won't SAVE. Does your THEME Edit work yet?

Hi all, were slowly getting through the glitches - you should now have full control over your profile appearance, images are back on your profile page as well as videos. We still need to bring these back up to the new design standard. We had issues with the code migration - but we're much closer now.

One of the main things that was aimed for was the distinct channels of navigation which you now get at the top of this page. The site is a lot easier to find information away from your friends and own profile pages.

Kind regards,
Nick

Thanks for the update, Nick.
Sadly, I still don't "have full control over profile appearance". As I said the other day, I go to THEME, I personalize it. In the thumbnail it all looks good. I press "SAVE" and it goes back to the repugnantly white default. The Header works that's all. I am not the only person with this problem.
What's not happening? Please advise.
