What do you think of the new look of artreview.com

I don't know about the new look to the website. The top menu takes up to much space. Before this website looked nice, like an art magazine. Now it looks like a collection of generic icons grabbed from templates. The grey fade in the background is boring. This now kind of looks like every other website out there. I like the minimal retro look of the original site design

No Torriente - I think you'll find Nick Tong of talkwebsolutions.co.uk is behind both old and new sites.
If they get the slide screen back and allow us to customize our pages and sort out the remaining glitches this could be a very good site again.

I mean if this new website was technically and functionally twenty times better than the original site, i would forget that it looks less appealing because it functions better. but thats not the case

For me the "look" is something of a deal breaker. It seems to me obvious in the extreme that a bunch of artists are going to care about how their work is presented and viewed. It's beyond a no-brainer.

I'm hoping some one will have the sound sense to reinstall the Edit Page Design Option along with the Profile Page slide screen.

Anyone taking bets?

These are coming - we're fixing a few glitches but we will have all the old feature back VERY soon and so many more great features. Please keep with us over the next few days while we sort this issues out.

Thanks for your patience.

I appreciate artreview.com, it's great for artist. I will also subscribe to the magazine.

Nick, that was a timely and informative intervention after which I am sure we are much reassured.
I may be dumb but I've look at Torriente's page and I don't see what has been customized. It is still "repugnantly white". Could either of you please explain.
Thanks
MIKE

I really don't like the new look of artreview,it has lost the friendliness I liked : each artist's page is alike.
In the preceeding version, when you opened an artist's page, you entered his realm with his colours, shapes and music...
in the new version ,everyone is alike....my God artreview has lost its soul and we artists are loosing ours!

Gosh - this site design style is really a very current issue for me. And I know how hard it is to come to a decision.
I am in the process of maybe re-designing a website I own. There is a thought, for that site - it should be a cleaner less colourful look.
Perhaps the art review team have also come to that conclusion.
My thoughts?....
.....it is easy to be bold and brash and loud in a group of people you know, you can wear the clothes you like and sing silly songs.
But enter a room of people who might judge you and maybe shun you, if your hat is not the right shape or even if you shouldn't be wearing a hat at all....AND if you want to be accepted by this room of people....THEN you TAKE THE HAT OFF!!!!!!!

In fact my blood is up now and I have made my decision as to how MY website will look..
My site will retain its colour in fact I might put more in.. just to be difficult!!!

All the best to everyone and to the people running this site who have to make such major decisions – it is Hell…
I like this site very, very much, good grief the work needed to create such a site and keep it runing is tremendous.

Well, I'm happy to be patient and see how it all pans out. In a way I'm happy with the white but this is only because some folk will insist on doing the classic web thang and use colours that make it close to impossible to read anything, I suppose I could start experimenting with coloured filters in my specs, no, no, I have principles regarding taste and comprehension.
I have noticed that the new style makes the colours in my photos look a little electric which is objectionable.
