Exquisite Corpse project

Hello everybody!

I asked for ideas for collaboration, and we got a great one from Marty McCutcheon (check the previous discussion for referral).

He suggested we make a video version of the Exquisite Corpse (a method invented by the surrealists. For those who wants to know more about this, check the oracle: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exquisite_corpse).

This is not something that hasn't been done before, but I think it's an interesting first experience of collaboration between artists from artreview.

So it would work like this: one artist makes a 60 seconds video and send the last 10 seconds to an artist he/she chooses (we just have to decide who will be this first artist, maybe Marty could start, or me). The artist who receives the video will make his/her 60 seconds starting with the 10 seconds of he previous artist. He/she is allowed to work with this 10 seconds in any way he/she wants. And then complete with 60 seconds of his own work. Once finished his/her part, he/she will send the last 10 seconds to the next artist, chosen by him/her.

Please let me know if this is clear enough!

I'll post the rules for participation soon.

I wasn't, but if you enter wikipedia and search exquisite corpse, you gonna see lots of projects in many medias already done this way. I couldn't find one with experimental video. But it's a method, a way of making things, and I believe each time it's done, it's different because of the process and the people involved.
I also believe we should do this more than once. Maybe make a whole series out of this.
And how is it working out for you this experience?

it has just started, so i can't tell you much, i take it rather lightly,
it's also an exercise to let go and interact, maybe the video should also be more interwoven, instead linear, but that's even more risky, and again, maybe then people should decide who they want to let touch ... s.

Hi all,
If there's room for one more I'm interested.

Climb aboard, Anders, there's room for everyone. We're still sorting some things out. It's like we're ready for a road trip, but still deciding who's gonna drive first.

I think it'll be me, then Ambuja...

How about:
Marty - Ambuja - me (Kika) - Zachary - Simone - JohnJohn - Mike - Anders
It would be 8 people, which I guess is also a good number. Or we divide this groups in 2 and make 2 different videos at the same time.
What do you guys think?

Two groups sounds best to me- More cadavers, less time.

How might we divide ourselves? birth-month? geographic latitude?
I'm October, approximately 38°N.

Ha! I'm June - exactly 43.209839 Latitude and Meridian Verte (GMT) for Longitude.

To be honest, I'd be happy with 8 in the group but I'll go with the flow!
