Hi everyone

I am beginning the process of curating a show with some friends. We are looking at the nature of the gallery wall within work, how they relate and how they interact. Primarily we want to show work which uses the wall in an interesting way. As much as we want this to be painter friendly, the notion is to move away from just hanging the work or painting onto the wall, but to use it.

Would it seem to needy to ask for ideas/advice? This is the first time for all of us!

Hi Dan- I would just suggest you research on "wall-based" practice and find some artists/ pieces you'd be happy to have in the exhibition. Select bearing in mind the space you have to hand, and establish relationships between different pieces, and the exhibition will come together in your heads at least. Where are you curating this show and when is it set to be?
Good luck.

It will be in Nottingham sometime in October. We are still looking for a venue, especially as all the smaller galleries are closing to accomodate the new big arts center.

Dan hi,

I agree with Elisa. Investigating wall based practices is the way. Look up Daniel Gottin, a Swiss artist who works with wall surfaces http://www.danielgoettin.ch

Good luck.

Many ciaos
