Wanna Nada?

Reno Nevada, beside Lake Tahoe at the edge of the Sierra Nevadas and the high desert of the Great Basin–Nada Motel, down & out hotels/motels in the center of 'biggest little city'. inviting artists to establish their own exhibitions in motel rooms. Meet artists and exhibit your own art–it's your motel room, about $150.

Show some art, meet some cool people, gamble, drink, take in a show or strip club, watch fire dancers, aerialists, a robot, witness the neon parkingLot, enjoy musicians and poets–jump in the river–but bring YOUR creativity. 4 days of art exhibitions/installations and extraordinary entertainment. Take a vacation, come to the high desert.

The 1st year over 60 artists participated, including all the creative arts. We believe in making something happen ourselves, stretching our reach and making connections–oh–and we party our asses off.

This is the opposite of the "trickle down" form of cultural governance. You know, granting, committees, jurors, "expert analysis". We are our own beneficiaries, we are not a granting/jurying body. We use this event for our own promotion and you're invited to do the same. We take it and run with it. We belong to the 'energyconomy' where your value or currency is energy. Put in to get back.

The media likes organized/collaborative events. Something MANY people are involved with will always beat out something that ONE person is doing as far as the media's interest is concerned.

I like "chaordic" (chaos/order). No boss, no governing body, just energy. A flurry of activity gives it success–like a good blog.

You wanna Nada? Reno, end of June, 2008.

Hi... I'm a Sacto artist who'd like to participate.... you open to "foreigners" participating? I've also been a resident of Black Rock City if that gives me any Nevada "cred".
