ART BY A NON-PAINTER KAMIKAZE WITH CONTAINED EXPLOSIVE MEMORIES

What is interesting about Convers’ work is the synthesis that she accomplishes through mixing materials that are unconventional in the Art world and that reflect a process based on juxtaposing its elements. Her pieces consist of prints of black and white images of memories that function as a base for using color; presented through vivid strokes that display a thorough, non-conformist research.

In her work, the process of elaboration has much to do with the title of this exhibition. Although the surface of the pieces is flat, shiny, clean and linear; we know that on the other side of the coin, the one that can only be observed during construction, the piece is flooded with imperfections, errors and accidents. Yet, is this not how thought is constructed? Through reflecting between wrong and right answers? The organic element in every dream is the same one that once probably caused nightmares: contained explosions that as we know, are better played out in our memories. This is the prime matter in her work, what she presents us while digging through her memories and crashing them against the plastic of her consciousness.

She narrates that during the exercise of the art profession, she ended up working with these materials because their studies were sprinkled of representations of images, in slides, monitors, photocopy and reproductions. That the virtual thing of this experience made her take these more perishable and dynamic elements, to emphasize the way in which we consumed this type of visual reconnaissance today. But, anyway How is contained the reflections in a world where everything is volatile, fleeting, digital and travels of a side of the planet to the other in hundredth of second? This text, doesn’t try to give the answer, the answer contains each one of the pieces of Carolina, perhaps and if you crash with them, or they are let star against the drawn into squares floor, get to know the secret.
