Edgar Varela Fine Arts is proud to present the latest collection of paintings by Erica Steiner. Entitled, Reverie: Meditations on an Ornamental World, these latest additions exploit the conflicting elements of natural beauty and synthetic excess, as she draws on the natural energy of the earth, working it into a detailed splendor that seemingly supersedes natural ability or appliqué.
Recently cited in CitizenLA magazine as an attempt to reintroduce beauty back into contemporary art, the paintings of Reverie promise to both intrigue and adorn. Exercises in gold leaf, Indian patterning, and classic oil intertwined with pastel-pop hues express the artist’s desire to materialize the internal energy of the earth. Focusing on capturing the sensory experience her paintings document the unseen life-flow beneath the surface of time.
Erica Steiner is a graduate of Mills College in Oakland and holds an MFA in Creative Writing. She currently lives and works outside of San Francisco where the boundaries of city and country meet, the basis for many of the opposing elements in her work. Erica has been painting since she was very young and studied fine art while at Mills College.
Edgar Varela Fine Arts is dedicated to bringing new and emerging artists to the spotlight. EVFA showroom is located at 542 S. Alameda Street (at Palmetto St.) in Los Angeles, between 5th Street and 6th Street.
