Investigating the artist’s mind as both a psychological and creative space, the Hayward Gallery’s summer show Walking in My Mind is a large multifaceted exhibition of both immersive installation pieces and quieter, more reflective works. Artists such as Yayoi Kusama and Jason Rhoades arguably fit into a more introspective, biographical and psychoanalytical reading of the curatorial direction, compared to the more fantastical, fairytale worlds created by Charles Avery or Bo Christian Larsson. ArtReview caught up with Stephanie Rosenthal, the show’s curator, to discuss its inception and realisation, as well as the inclusion of work from Thomas Hirschhorn, Mark Manders, Pipilotti Rist, Chiharu Shiota and Keith Tyson. Interview by Oliver Basciano.
