Design legend Peter Saville, best known for his album covers for Factory Records, has designed the new England football shirts for Umbro, which they will wear on their Euro 2012 qualifying match on Friday against Bulgaria, reports
Creative Review. Saville's contribution is to have tiny sewn crosses in different colours on the shoulder area of the shirt, referencing trends from menswear tailoring - Umbro are also tagging the shirts 'tailored by Umbro'. It's attracting rather a lot of criticism, as the crosses can't really be seen by cameras during games, though reportedly Saville's brief was to include colour on the shirt whilst keeping the shirt white.
