The
Art Newspaper reports that Antonia Carver, well known as a writer and journalist, is to head Art Dubai, succeeding John Martin. Carver is based in Dubai, and is a specialist in contemporary middle-eastern art. She is currently the manager of Bidoun Projects, a curatorial organisation connected to a magazine of the same name, which focuses on middle eastern art and culture. “There’s never been such a level of international interest in the region and its art and culture,” Carver said. “There is a new maturity in the market with a group of young Emirati and UAE-based collectors who are interested in how the market works and are looking at international as well as regional artists.”
