The performance artist Ann Liv Young is to return to MoMA PS1 this weekend, reports the
New York Times, six months after her controversial turn at the
Brooklyn Is Burning event was cut short by director-curator Klaus Biesenbach. Back then Young, in the guise of her alter-ego Sherry, masturbated and peed on stage, and delivered a tirade of insults to fellow artist Georgia Sagri, who was also on the performance weekend's bill. Sagri reacted, from the audience, and reportedly had to be restrained, before Bisenbach stepped in and ordered the electricity to be cut. The decision to allow Young back – for a lecture on Sunday in which she will lead a discussion on the merits of her original appearance – follows a series of internal meetings at the museum.
