A Hard Day’s Night director donates archive

The director Richard Lester – best known for the films he made with the Beatles, A Hard Day’s Night (1964) and Help! (1965) – has donated his papers to the British Film Institute's national archive, the organisation has announced. The collection, stored in over 60 boxes, contains draft scripts, correspondence and stills. Lester said of the donation, “It is a pleasure for me to be able to offer them the detritus of my working life.”
