SACHA AND CIRCULISM
The Stars in our Universe are like movements of circles on my canvas

SACHA a self taught New York artist who uses the technique called Circulism, he paints using toothpicks and nails among other household objects to achieve his finely drafted paintings. Circulism Technique that has been around for centuries but as a Pencil Technique.
Most Artists would use paint brushes or a palette knife to paint but SACHA would use toothpicks and nails.
About my artwork
To SACHA, Circulism is Movement.
Since 2003, SACHA has found away to mix the colors by making circles, scratching the surface of the canvas and bringing out the whiteness of the canvas with toothpick and nails. Up-close you can see and feel the texture of the tiny and large circles. You can also see how SACHA, with just one color can create shades by just applying more or less circles.

A review written by Gary Peterson states: "SACHA’s still-life’s are poetic and his figurative art, anecdotal. They are self-aware delineations with a unique formal aesthetic owing to his meticulous method of tinting and shading the painted surfaces by etching circles with a toothpick or nail: Circulism. These orbital reverberations impart a harmonious molecular frisson in the eye of the beholder.
His images are like idealized specimens in a natural history museum, vignettes of life displayed in comfortable picture-planes. There are no loose ends in these well-balanced compositions. Both emblematic and decorative, they are each a tightly choreographed narrative, an existential play in which the viewer becomes viewed. Spanish in character, SACHA’s images remind me somewhat of Fernando Botero’s work without the steroids, or a pre-Cubist Picasso.
Be fruitful and multiply.

Hi Sacha
Thanks for adding me. Your work is really great! I love your depictions of people and shapes, the way they are all so abstract yet instantly recognisable... making me look deeper into the painting!
I'm fascinated! Like the texture too.
