I am...
I am currently working on a show at the Cambridge School of Weston. I will be making ephemeral dioramas that students will distribute throughout the campus and then take a photo as documentation of the process. Those photos will be displayed for two weeks on campus.
About my artwork
I make objects that stir up memories of my childhood and my feelings about motherhood that address my fascination with the 'social disease of nostalgia. For me being a mother was a desperate fight against powerlessness, loneliness and self-loathing., but yet today I find myself looking back at motherhood with fondness.
Kim Brennan's work involves taking art to the streets and non-traditional venues to reach a wider audience. Since 2005 she has been working on a diorama project that involves penetrating public space and using public response to move the work. This series consist of putting miniature dioramas in public and private residential bathrooms. The dioramas are made of ephemeral materials which allow people's daily processes to degrade the work.
