I am...
Harpa Dögg Kjartansdóttir
graduated from the Department of Fine Arts of the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2007. In 2009, she received a teaching diploma from the same academy. Harpa has been active in the art scene, both locally and internationally. She has been involved with many exhibitions as a participant and has also worked as a curator and set designer.
About my artwork
In her art, Harpa works with mixed media and various techniques but she has more recently focused on collages. In her works she takes found objects and places them out of context in order to give them a new meaning.
She recycles things and often combines different materials together, such as flattened, old painting buckets and collage from magasines. She´s been developing them for several years. In her recent works, she flattens out painting buckets and works on the inside, using the old paint as the background for the collage work. In her collage she finds the colors instead of mixing them with paint. She finds different subjects and puts them in a different context and makes her own visual world.
