About my artwork

Sees art as a vision and a voice. Seeks out reflex and response moments in everyday life, spirit and body juxtaposed on a colossal framework of world-mind and world-body. Everything as interlinked. Wanting to capture the mundane yet also the obtuse, hidden things—that lost essence of life that makes the human race persistently naïve and infallible, able to withstand onslaught to survive. Uses mainly performance. Exhibits internationally in various festivals and paints when she has time.

Emphasis on "the nude" in art - as a celebration and affirmation of "being human" in essence, but also using the female nude as a means to convey a sense of self in her portrayal of various artistic endevours, conceptual and other. This is also a means to rise above the self, defy that same essence and hunt out the ethereal.What lies beneath the skin? Use of humour in art essential to convey messages blatant or subliminal. Hence the use of - self in most of the performance pieces - where the artist becomes the tool, the body the vessel and the eyes a direct link to viewers psyche. bla bla alison. never take yourself too seriously.
Art is often a sacrifice, a compulsion... There are times when I suffer for art. Current obsession : emotion, death and the afterlife. sacrifice - is a necessary part of human survival. It reflects in my stance as a mother, an artist and a woman. My art is my act of defiance against the brutality I witness in the world. i am ugly. i like being ugly.

Organized by the artist and curator Lee Wells, DRIFT brings together a unique comparison of some of today’s most engaging top young contemporary video and Internet artists who all infuse their work with a strong socio-cultural critique. They focus on how communications and media technologies have opened a space for video and new media to speak openly to a spectacle of uncontrolled influences and the myriad of ideas that infiltrate our minds-eye in our ever-growing info-sphere. DRIFT, investigates video artists navigating the psychological liberation and isolation brought about through new global cultural and technological advancements in the 21st century.The thirteen works selected for Drift together tell a story that is both fact and fiction, real and virtual. Not so much a theme show but a meta-narrative reflecting humanity’s essential nature in a time of incredible change. The works define a new mythology, beyond nostalgia and postmodern speculation. A document of everyday life very different from Vertov’s vision, yet so similar in structure and influence. Almost a century later, these artists, a new global avant-garde, bring us fragments of a 21st century epic, all of them, searching for a deeper truth in the maelstrom of the western spectacle.

Micro Museum, founded in 1986, is an interdisciplinary art center with over six hundred working artists. Classes, workshops and meetings using the rehearsal spaces at Micro Museum are operated fully by the teachers.
Micro Museum clients are award winning actors, dancers, directors, performers, musicians, writers, media artists and teachers who are producing work for viewers around the corner or around the world.
