If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Installation, Painting, Performance, Photography, Video
I am...
...looking for collaborators in noise projects, video and performance work.
-------I need three opera singers to record some text work on video-----------
...In need a better job, something arty...

I meditate when I sleep and when I walk (Diamond Mind, ngondro)... tantric... Tulku...

I am a lucid dreamer (sometimes that is really too much, like last night, I lie there awake and yet not, in a dream of daemons and wolves on the Hungarian plains with peasants who wont talk about the mysterious black monolithic building that sits like a curse or a warning to the living and the dead.)

Bio
Mr Pickerill is a poet and multi media performance artist. Since 1997 he has been developing the Omen Project an ongoing series of performances, photography, video and installations. This project was inspired by the themes in the Iliad and the Odyssey, and Romeo and Juliet; the primacy of personal love over societal conflict and control. Mr Pickerill lives and works in Brooklyn NY.

Statement
My artwork is a response and witness to the wars and violence of mankind. Fundamental to my work is my belief that we are essentially schizophrenic as a culture. In general the culture at large has seen itself as being separate from nature, even superior, separate from 'God' and thus inferior. As in the Iliad, the Odyssey and Romeo and Juliet the cultural arbiters have posited that man and specifically men are the lords of the earth with the rights of profit that this supposed ownership affords. Murder and theft are deemed the rights of power held by a few who see the rest as 'others' devoid of rights or sovereignty. Love is the folly of youth and subservient to power and the family/culture. In both this leads only to tragedy and loss of life. The destruction meted on others ultimately brings tragedy back on the houses of these lords of power. The only way out is for the hero to humble himself (king becomes 'no one,' Nemo, thus all) before nature/god and return to the one he himself truly loves.
Artists I like
Gunter Brus, Gehard Richter, Mike Kelly, Pipilotti Rist, Paul McCarthey, Antonin Artaud, Francis Bacon, Edvard Munch, Marlene Dumas, Duchamp, Damien Hirst, the Chapman Brothers, Andy Warhol, Chloe Piene, Herman Nietch, Terence Koh, Matthew Barney, David Lynch, Pier Paolo Passolini, Godard, Bella Tarr, Antonioni, Francois Truffaut, Sergei Eisenstien, Gus Van Sant, Federico Fellini, Ingmar Bergman, Stanley Kubrik, Richard Linklater, Werner Herzog, Andre Tarkovski, etc

I am not from here...

These following photographs are of performances of which I have produced and performed.

I never learned that the fire burned... I won't let go... I howl... the Omen Project from Hazards Of The Moon:
an ongoing thought about man and war

stranded...
born of red earth and ink black night

Person-

the knife enters, cleaving the one
opening an emptiness, emptying a fullness
Person looks for her.

'Where are you? 'Where have you gone?'

'I am not the one who did the leaving.'

As the earth of man reseeds from the waters, furthering the
desert, sapping the body
salt relieving the void, mirages emptying into thought
children echo the return of the mother/father.
The first word born of their becoming,
here I am, this is my cypher.
Opening to the sky, fill me
I am yours, beloved...

.................................

When I was three my mother went away
to the hospital. She had cancer,
a lump in her breast. The doctors
cut it out, removing her breast
to the bone.
One half of the universe dissolves
the son is alone with the father
Silence becomes enthroned in time, which is separation.
Desperation,
the chick calls out, randomly dialing numbers
until one connects, the signal holds
ringing fills the ears, further into the desert, dive...

An answer, 'yes, hello.'
Person asks, 'Do you know where my mother is?'

You are all dead
Do you here me?
You’re already dead!
This is not life!
This is not life!

Ring around the rosie
Pockets full of puss
Ashes
Ashes
We all fall down

Person
Person
You are a walking corpse
Shit and rotting blood of maggots
Piled high
Caricature of life

My lips
Brake
All is silent
I has wandered
No thing
No where
No shelter
No sky
No mountain
No valley
No skin
No flesh

Dead!
Dead!
Dead!
You’re already Fucking Dead!

Time is up, Mother Fucker!
She is crying.
Duck and cover!
Game over!
Time has ended
With an open mouth and an open ass
Screaming into the void
My sex crawls beneath the night
Enveloped in the boiling of the sky
Tuberous snouts probing
A cankered earth
Extracting poisons
Time honored
Tongues
Canceling the void
Silence scattered
Between cries

The radioactivity of my sex
Emits nightly
Half-life
All death
I cannot help
But to…

Everything is upside down
Somewhere between
The heart
And the mind
Something went wrong
