- “My name is Thona Samba. I am a fresh new painter from Paris, now living in London.
I always wanted to do something creative.....
At the age of 16 i was in a theatre troupe for two years.
Since then I've always tried to do something in the art.....

- My paintings are very colourful. I like colours very much...........
The mouth is going to be the theme for my first solo exhibition. I never showed my work to the public before .
Why mouth?
Because the mouth is the centre of many of the fundamental components of human activity. It is consumption, speech, breath, romance; it is communication, interaction, giving pleasure, almost a door to the soul.
And I love to communicate, the romance, interaction between people in a positive way..
I like to share with people.....

A solo show of artworks by Thona Samba
Marie Lloyd Bar, Hackney Empire Theatre, 291 Mare Street, E8 1EJ
Hackney Empire Theatre’s Marie Lloyd Bar is pleased to announce the first solo show of artworks by French painter Thona Samba on view from 29 April – 12 May 2009. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, 29 April from 6pm – 9pm. The public is invited and all are welcome.
Thona Samba is a painter, traveller, musician and comedian from Paris. War – Jealousy – Revenge is the theme for his first exhibition of his works. The theme is based on Verdi’s Aida (3 May 2009 at Hackney Empire Theatre).
Thona speaks:
“My name is Thona Samba. I am a fresh new painter from Paris, now living in London.
I always wanted to do something creative.....
At the age of 16 i was in a theatre troupe for two years.
Since then I've always tried to do something in the art.....
My paintings are very colourful. I like colours very much...........

You either hate or love Samba’s work. The Marie Lloyd Bar is proud to present this young artist to a critical London audience.
Please do come along to the opening night on the 29 April from 6pm – 9pm. Samba will be present.

Thank you for inviting me to your opening. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it as I'd already planned to attend a book launch.
I will try to get to the gallery to see your work before the exhibition closes; meanwhile, keep me posted on any future shows.

Jeroen said… - There was a lot of public,...even the period after the opening. Sunday i was sitting there as the suppoost and didn't had any time to read the book i brought with me to kill the emptyness in time. So that was basicly pretty good been talkin' whole day with everybody who was interrested in the works.
Although there were lot sa people who were drawn towards my work unfotunately i didn't sell anything pity enough.
So resuming your question, yes it was a good exhibition and met quite some nice people,......unfortunatly didn't sell anything.
