If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Drawing, Installation, Painting
I am...
an emerging artist. Born 1987, Dunstable, England I studied my BA (Hons) Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham (Graduated 2008) and now lives and works in London. Currently collaborating with other professionals and conducting workshops at Nicholas Breakspear Roman Catholic School. Her Exhibitions include: ‘Outside’ Parma, Italy, ‘Abandoned’-St.Albans, ‘Outline’- London ' Decaying'- St.Albans and 'Exploration' sponsered by Fujifilm at 491 Gallery, london.
About my artwork
As an artist, I explore deteriorating cityscapes which become regurgitated as uniformed pulp noir drawings; suggestive of something out of a Graphic Novel, they represent the slow moving, silent transformation of the neglected. The intention behind the work is to question our values of the old and whether mass production of taller much bigger buildings will completely diminish and overpower the buildings with historical values. It has become the ignored subject. An invisible world which is the cause of overcrowded areas – deprived, broken and mistreated. These abandoned decrepit scapes are a reflection of our modern society revealing the urban grittier side. This subject matter has been evident in previous works, such as ‘Balloon’, 2007 which was bound by a repetitive process concerned with distressing the surface.

As the drawings have evolved they are more controlled, stylistic and visually illustrative. With use of the monochrome colours, black and white, the viewer is presented with a comic strip or a photo negative appearance. Trapped in a never ending cycle, just like urban decay I am drawn to the industrial look of my materials, such as duct tape and backing paper and there function as a quick fix to mask over any problem.
Artists I like
Tessa Farmer, Sam Clift, Rosamund Farmer, Jennifer Mckevitt, Paul Noble and Julie Meteru
